3 trucks in one week... Having my doubts.

    I'll cliff note this by saying, yes, I got pretty decent bulk training, and I'm thankful for that. Know a lot more than when I came in.

    The problems that are red flagging:
    3 trucks as of last Tuesday..one derated via the RAC system and ABS frying, limped from Chatt to Atlanta...fun. second one had a non functional compressor, and a van fifthwheel, that load to PA and one back was fuuuun. The third seems pretty functional, bit had to wait 2 days to get the windshield replaced. The communication is nonexistent, so just kept my head down and trying to muster through.

    2nd problem so far for 2 weeks is minus a lot of empty moves (moving empties a short distance and eating my clock), and 3 actual loads for the two weeks so far that were in the 2-500 range. Been sitting a lot. Never seem to get much response if any. And the weekend....oh boy...2-4 hr wait times on hold per trailer move (4 total), along with being told to remove a mid-turn signal light on an iso chassis and "to roll with it"...and when bringing this up during a safety conference, I was pretty much dunced in front of the class for not having "a card system" that I was never issued or even told about. Wouldn't have changed the response time.

    And for a bonus feature, I've sat for 26 hrs waiting till I can go pick up a 11-1 preload that goes 255 miles.

    Should I just cut my losses, and walk? Or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill? I'd rather retrain at at different bulk rather than try to hold on for "wishes and promises" that I seem to keep getting.

    If it's slip seat bail .. guys aren't doing post trips but if it's a assign unit I'd give it a chance and see how it goes

    You know more about what else you sense about the company. But if you look around and others don't seem to be having issues, or others seem to be having the same issues. These might be something to consider. Is there real potential there that you can see if you can just get past this bad period?

    Leaving a company should never be done unless you feel you've exhausted all your options to correct situation(s) and there is no light to be sen at the end of the tunnel. Also depends on do you have options if you leave? Can you afford to be between jobs for a time?

    I think I'd hang in there for awhile. I know what you're going through isn't any fun but it will probably smooth itself out.
    If you can grit your teeth and put up with it for a year you'll look a lot better to other companies. If you bail now you'll look like a guy who will leave at the first sign of trouble.
    I know it's aggravating but keep plugging away at it. Every load you haul, all those different products and procedures, will look real good on an employment app when you decide to move.

    I totally get you REO, but my main concern is feeding my family. If my wheels aren't spinning I'm not bringing the bread. And of all the promises not one has been meet yet, I do the work to reach that promise and I'm greeted with more promises. I'm not a new driver, just new to bulk.

    Frankly, I'd be looking. Too many good bulk jobs out there to be sitting. When I went to my first (and only) company, I met my dispatcher and told him one thing, I'm on the road to make money, not to sit. Do not make me sit. And he didn't. Not once.

    Some companies just give you crummy loads for the first while as a initiation ritual to see what you are made of. After a period of time things get better. Other drivers can clue you in on wether this is the case, or if it just sucks all the time.

    And if that were the case, I'd quit today. This is a profession, not a club. And I know what I'm made of and have nothing to prove to anyone.

    Both very good points, I prefer to run.
    I told them from day one I'm an early am driver, and I like to roll. Instead I keep getting gap pickups that are reeiculous to me. Example: Finally got the load today, relayed it 200ish miles for a local driver to pu. Pu'd an empty that I'll be taking 100mi to get loaded at 1pm in VA, then 500 up to Ellwood, pa for an 8pm delivery. I finally got some miles, but the gap on the times is royally screwing my routine, but I know I have to just get use to that, but the appt times are mind boggling. Get loaded at 1pm one day and deliver 8pm the next day? More sitting.

    Maybe they just suck. There's always that. I'd be having a conversation with my manager and at the same time, looking.
