So according to this, if I'm reading it correctly you shouldn't see a light.

So in reality, the whole point of Auto Elevate is to prevent you from having to do excessive regens by simply keeping the ATS hot enough to burn off any excess HC so it won't store in your DPF.

Well.... I found my solution to my problem lol I found a 10mm socket in my backpack back from when I did a motor swap on my car so I just wedged that in the pedal and it is just enough to trigger it from shutting off but not raise the rpm. I started a new fleet in NY and I got another brand new 2018 and one of the guys here rigged a cup holder coffee heater to his mirror. Super ghetto but it works.

Pull off the driver side smaller mirror, you will see a sensor in there. Take it out and by pass it with a paper clip and your good to idle.

I have a 2019 freightliner with this idle optimizer and it dose not keep the truck cool for long, after it shuts off the temp has to go to 75 degree before it kicks back on for about 4 minutes then cuts off again! And every time the truck cuts off it shakes the truck so bad it wakes me up ever #### time!! Will not ever buy a freightliner again! And will not work for another trucking company that has just freightliner! KW's are the only way to go

If you have a 2018 Cascadia in the old style hood, the ambient temp sensor is in the drivers side mirror case, behind the lower mirror, on the outer edge. Pull the plug and idle away. I've done full 34s idling with zero issue (my company doesn't care about idling, I just haven't had a chance to get to a dealer to change the setting in the ECM)
Pulling the plug will set an engine code. Light goes away after five or six full starts. -
What temperature allows the truck to stay running is determined by the company. Freightliner programs the low and high temperature as the company requests. Changing these temperature settings requires a login to the computer system only authorized technicians have.
Both the company and freightliner know everything the truck does. It's logged and when a sensor fails (which tampering with the sensors by removing them does) it will send an alert code saying it's malfunctioning...so it might get looked in to...
With all that said there is still hope to get it to idle no matter what the outside temperature is depending upon what HVAC control you have in the bunk. Hot or cold if you put it on A/C mode and set the digital temp to as low as it can go you should be able to use the knob controls to control the actual temperature and the truck will actually start it self and stay running.
Mine is a 2016 cascadia II and this trick works.
Take heed to what other people said though. Your company will know you idled. Don't do it for long. You really don't have to trick it at all. I haven't had to. If you put the ignition key in accessory, turn the cab controls off and the bunk override on up front the bunk heater and A/C just works. Temp can be controlled by the knobs in the bunk HVAC controls.
The bunk HVAC will run without the engine running. Your not going to drain 4 batteries dead running the bunk HVAC for the 5-8 hours we get to sleep.
The truck does not need to idle. That's why this feature was introduced. I believe what needs to happen is both Freightliner and companies need to share with drivers how to use the HVAC as it's designed so we know and don't have to or even try to tinker with it. It does work without idling the truck burning fuel away sitting still. The 2018's and 19s will actually start and shut down the engine as it needs to if you go through the menus with the steering wheel buttons and turn the temp control feature thing (I forget what it's named) on.
They key has to be in accessory in the 2016 models, I believe it doesn't matter what position the ignition key is in in the 2018 and 19 or models.Last edited: Dec 25, 2018

I'm trying to figure out Optimized Idle also on my 2018 Cascadia. I don't think it is programmed into the computer. I saw a blog that mentioned that OI might need to be turned on at an authorized dealer. Don't know if you know the following, or if anyone has said so far....you can over ride engine shut down by turning on the cruise control and pressing either the + or - button. You can also adjust the idle speed. I have mine set to just above normal idle and the air is good and the company doesn't say anything about too much fuel use/idle time.
