Do you want to keep him?

    If yes pay him.

If not don't and he will find a new job.

The choice is yours. What is an employee worth to you?

if you had any idea the truck was going to be in the shop past 1 week, why did you not rent one for him?

staying at home, cuz you're too cheap to rent another truck, would not settle with me either. i'd be gone after the second week if you told me it's going to be longer.

you could offer him another truck, maybe team up with someone for the short term, or do a 4x4 with another driver.

why don't you even have a spare truck on stand by? even if it is only a twin screw day cab?

Im not certain if you feel mad at me for what i said.

Bill the man then, if he effed your rig by not doing the small things like he was supposed to don't continue to bleed money for his sake. If he wants to continue working for you he can sit home on punishment like a child taken out of recess and sent to a corner with a dunce hat. Or go find another job with a report from you against him on DAC.

I hate to be difficult and I am not your enemy and I wont bully. God knows it's expensive with stupid drivers breaking really expensive stuff on your rig that you rely on to make a living.

I have rarely gotten breakdown pay. However, one epic 4 day fiasco I had with DM Bowman which is in my story telling thousands of posts ago somewhere on TTR, the Safety man; a former Marine. A good honorable man made sure I was paid 10 per hour all those 4 days and issued a virgin daycab mack CL I think or CH.. I forget.

His small act of kindness in otherwise a seriously bad week for me made sure I stayed in the industry a while longer. Restoring my faith in at least sometimes you can be paid for something that is not your fault.
