There is an entry for quit/terminated during orientation.

Not only rebut it, request an investigation in accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (which applies to consumer reports). DAC has to contact reporting entity. If reporting entity fails to respond within 30 days to DAC's inquiry, the information must be removed.

I have heard from several friends who have been truckers for years that this is happening more and more. Show up for orientation, something doesn't work out and get reported on your DAC.

OTR trucking is probably the most messed up industry today for front-line workers which means truckers. Between the HOS & ELD requirements, crappy pay per mile without other time being compensated, the DAC report that follows you for 7 long years to the over-inflated CDL "schools" that charge between $6 to $10,000 for their "training" it's no wonder they say their is a driver shortage.

Wow a lot is wrong with this industry and it is not all what you said. Otr is one very small aspect of it but the truth is that the industry has suffered from the promoting it as a job and easy entry and not a profession or skill trades which would make this a closed industry.

We need it to be a closed industry just like in heavy equipment construction and tool and die professions. We need to stop creating drivers with little skill sets and crackerjack licenses with tests that my 13 year old daughter passed at 100%.

Not commenting on your signature line beyond pointing out it has two falsehoods, I have never seen or heard of any union pushing to make this as a skilled trade job, while they have for other industries.

I think this has to do with the possibility that unions have had support of a few companies and organizations not to make the push to have it recognized as a skilled trades profession who directly benefit from this being just a job.

DAC pays it's clients $2.50 per termination report so the 'majors' report everyone they can...

DAC want to build their database so when a customer sends in a prospective driver's name, they get the 'on file' information right away.

    The Industry needs reformation.

If I can pay drivers 150,000 a year salary, have loads that make that kind of revenue and everything in order within reason and kept the riff raff out... and... and ....

No one values drivers anymore. Never has. Ive been abused too many times by a shipper or receiver verbally for being such a big whiny ### intent on sabotaging their world class operation because I don't care for the work.

That needs to be stopped. Industry wide.

Or right properly we go to robot trucks that will get there when they get there.

If DAC pays it's clients for reports. Where do they get the money from????

Stay away from companies that use dac. Problem solved.

Megas running OTR aren't the only game in town, YA know.

From the companies that use them to obtain MVR's and criminal checks...terminations are a deduction off your monthly invoice for MVR's, etc.

Were you paid for orientation? That may matter. Send a letter of dispute to HireRight, Inc. and ask them to investigate as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If carrier fails to confirm the disputed information within 30 days after receiving notice of your dispute, it comes off (but can be put back on later). This is the cheap way to try to change your DAC Report, without hiring a lawyer.
