I hope it is ok, but generally software updates do not fix things like that. Sooner or later it will pop up again.

Yes, popped up 600 miles later...time for the shop to have egr fixed.

I saw a guy selling his 2012 Prostar for $18k and it sat there for a long time before it disappeared. I know another guy that has one and the thing is always in the shop and he tried trading it off and no dealer would take it on trade.

Feb 2017 all warranty falls off, will be selling....

I know that this is an old thread, but I thought that I would update it. I have recently purchased 4 - 2012 Prostars with the Maxxforce and so far, I LOVE THEM! All Daycabs, 3 with the Ultrashift and 1 with a 10 speed manual. So far, no issues. They ae quiet and are getting 7 - 7.5 MPG! I have owned them for 3 months, they nearly run 7 day/wk, 24 hrs/day. So far I have put about 40,000 miles on them each. I paid anywhere from $16,500 - $18,000 each. My trucks haul milk tankers to Miami - Flat ground, 250 mile round trip. It all depends on your application, they may work out well for some companies. I was told that the key to run these trucks is Oil Changes - every 20,000 miles. I was also told that one of their major weaknesses in these trucks was long idle times caused problems (which doesn't affect me), as well as the EGR's. The last one that I bought had 126,000 miles on it and I paid $18,000 for it and it had a wetline and headache rack. It was a lease from International and was serviced every 90 days. They have 4 more coming off lease in the next month or two and I will buy as many as I can. They were all leased to an equipment rental company and used to deliver equipment, hence the low miles (all under 200,000). They will pay for themselves in 6 months or less as I have it figured.

Time is your enemy. You can't just put coolant in, it hasto be vacuumed filled, to avoid air pockets, which burns egr coolers. Proper regens are key!
