I don’t know if this has been posted yet, or how to link to a specific section on the article, but towards the bottom of this article is a list of 34 questions you should ask your recruiter if you’re getting into trucking for the first time. I just wanted people’s thoughts on if these are good questions to ask, if it’s too much to ask a recruiter, if there’s questions to ask instead or questions to add to it. There’s still a while until I actually start talking to recruiters but I figured you can never be too prepared and it’s never too early to learn as much as you can.
Here's what you need to know about CRST Expedited's training program

How much bonus do you get for every new recruit?

Why are your eyes brown where they're supposed to be white?

CRST... lol, even their training trucks are filthy.

Here’s a question: how do I wash my fifth wheel?

You need to get the info from a driver at the company you are interested in.They will tell you the truth.Talk to at least 3 drivers. That way you won’t hear all good or a bad opinions. You can find drivers on company Facebook page and YouTube.Ask a driver at a truck stop if he would care if you called him to get info about his company.Ask them why they went with this company. How does it compare to other places they have drove for.How many miles a week do they average. How much do they get per mile.Do they pay accessorial pay.Unload pay, drop pay, tarp pay, wait time pay,lay over pay and fuel bonus and safety bonus. Is the fuel bonus part of your pay per mile or is it separate. Is the fuel bonus really achievable.Do they let you bring a rider or pet.Do they have family heath care and is it any good and a fair price. How often will you get home and for how long will you be home 34 hr or 48hr.Is there equipment new or old.How often are they broke down and how was that handled. Was they payed break down pay. What lanes does this company run.Di they go to New York City.Start with that

Thank you, I appreciate the in-depth reply and advice. I’ve seen it mentioned here before but haven’t really found an in-depth answer for what it is, but what is accessorial pay and what do you mean what lanes the company runs?

    Need4Speed Thanks this.
