Hey yall,
I'm a new driver currently doing a dedicated run from Spokane to Seattle ( living in Spokane area). I have 9 months experience, and am planning on applying at LTL carriers once I have a year of experience. I want to do line haul but P&D does sound like a fun challenge.
I've read about most of the major carriers on here, but I would love to hear some more opinions. Here are all the company's I am considering.
Old dominion - Currently at the top of my list, I do have a name and number of a guy currently doing P&D.
ABF Freight
UPS
FedEx
Estes- I've heard decent things about them
Peninsula truck lines
Oak harbor freight lines
Saia- Currently at the bottom of my list from reading on here.
Diamond line delivery
I'd love to hear everyone's current opinions.
Need opinions on LTL company's

Isn’t Oak Harbor based out there somewhere?
-
They are on my list of places to apply and they do have a terminal in spokane, do you know anything about them?
-
No, but I believe out that way is the only territory they cover. That could tend to mean their freight base could be pretty slim compared to a nationwide company.
road_runner Thanks this. -
Old Dominion if you can get on.They have some of the best team pay around.Teams just go terminal to terminal and don’t have to deal with customers. There trucks are not set up for teams though. So the bunk will still be warm when you get in it

US Products Company is from your town. I once owned a Carpet Extractor owned by them.Jayfromthenw Thanks this.

Did it have one or two vacuum Motors? I'm in the middle of rebuilding a machine with two vacuum Motors.Mike2633 Thanks this.

Depending on how new you are, I'd recommend linehaul, especially if you wanted to do linehaul anyhow. Linehaul is more forgiving than P&D as a new driver - not as many obstacles. Personally, as a new driver, I wouldn't be looking for challenges.
Misfittrucker and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
It was an older HHP 310 two cords 2 vacume motors and an inline heater.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

True. I'm glad I got plenty of practice in a variety of tricky situations before getting into, say, a dozen tricky situations per day.Jayfromthenw, TheyCallMeDave and Mike2633 Thank this.
