Your insurance will be very bad. When you add another driver or another truck, truck, it won’t be worth it. You could get a decent truck and lease on to a carrier that pays 90% plus insurance etc

What does not being raised here have to do with it?

Many very successful people in this business are immigrants and many of them are much smarter than those who are born and raised here.

    yzar78 Thanks this.

Number one rule of thumb when starting a business...
If you have to ask simi-random people if you are ready, you are not.
You will know when you are....

I'm almost two years experience. If it wasn't for family I wouldn't be where I am. Its wayyyy more work than I thought. But its worth the pay and freedom.

I must join the others in here that advise against it. However if your hell bent to do it try to find a carrier that will accept you as a lease driver. I'm not sure if you can do this with only 6 months. However some carriers will accept you as a company driver with 6 months. So I guess it won't hurt to try. However at this point in time you are nowhere near ready to be an OO operating your own authority. Besides I doubt you will find many brokers willling to work with you.

Well after postin here looking for answers and advices. It's seems at least I need to wait till I get at least 1 year exp. And that's what am going to do and will use the coming 6 months to learn more about the o/o + getting more exp OTR.
It won't be hard specially with summer is coming so driving going to be 100 times easier than what we faced in I-80 Wyoming the last 4 month lol tho I heard its snowing in Wyoming even in summer lol...
Thanks again for every answer and replay It really mean a lot to me the help you guys provide with each answer

Be ready for rising fuel prices this summer. Faster than your rates will be able to keep up. The typical "lease program" will barely support a solo driver, and few can keep a team running "double the miles". Lease operators assume the losses during the cyclical slow-downs as they come and go. Great for the carrier, though. They fix the plans to where everything has to go perfect. They pay you just enough to keep you interested. Too little to allow you to go home for any length of time, and just enough you to where you have to run hard and eek out a living [if you can manage your money]. Most experienced drivers live more comfortably then lease operators, and don't have the headaches and worries.

For every one who "succeeded" in a lease plan (rental plan) or o-o route, there's probably 5 who failed and ended up in financial trouble and with bad credit.
