slip-seat every other week (?)

Got my CDLA in 2002: employer made a special deal with a local driving academy to send a few of us for 'Basic Training'. Driving was being added to our duties, to move delivered trailers to load, and then again to be picked-up. For <2wks, the 3 of us went out with an instructor taking turns behind the wheel, then road test. My 'career" was driving a yard truck a couple times a week to move trailers in/out of truck bays, and that was only for a few years -haven't drove since.

Obviously, not a 'trained' driver, but still have the CDLA. Now age 60 and considering retiring from high-stress/long hours job and what to do next. What opportunities (after retraining) are out there for an arrangement to slip-seat/casual by driving every other week, and for just driving pay/no benefits?

This works for me by providing some income, and with work 50:50 with free time to decompress and eventually into full retirement in 5-10yr. Obviously, need a driver for other half of this arrangement and assume others in similar situation would consider this. Ideal goal = dedicated run. Home every night would be best -not required but hope could get there eventually.
Any trucking co's doing this?
If this idea is completely nuts, then what options (and employers) come closest?
What 'dues' to expect if this goal is possible?
Company schools are the best option for training?

passport220, thanks for your reply. Found other threads on hauling US Mail -appears to be good advice worth investigating further.

Is there a 'best way' or website(s) to find a job driving for a contract US Mail hauler?

Ha -didn't think of Clist, but should have. Assume you were 'good to go' when applied.
I'll need refresher training therefore suspect this option may not be available to me -yet.

The 10 days off would work, but 20 days to get there OTR running hard as a team driver wouldn't work.

A dedicated run/routine with good amount of time off (or flexibility) is higher priority than max miles/income.
