Where ever you find a good one! I flew out and drove home. Look all over the country and be prepared to pretty much go anywhere.

Major repairs could easily be 1.5 x the cost of that truck. (Engine, transmission, tires, brakes).

You wouldn’t even be able to get it on the road (DOT), especially in California, where you wouldn’t even be allowed to register it. Getting leased on to a reputable carrier, would also be nearly impossible, if not in good shape. Many carriers have an age limit on trucks, and that International at 33 years old could be a problem before you leave your driveway.

You also mentioned that this was a “future” plan. So your research might be useless, by the time you’re ready to pull the trigger. Start saving your money now.

Saving is always the plan and doing research now doesn't hurt at all.

IMG_8636.PNG Bought this truck out of a weed patch with a blown engine. I was made fun of but I knew my abilities so screw everybody. Keep in mind I do 100% of my own wrenching. All the suspension and EVERYTHING brake related on the rear is brand new, I also did a out of frame overhaul on the engine. No I'm not leased to no one. Depending on where you travel an older truck can cause issues such as in California. If you can't work on it, it may be difficult to keep a older truck going...? Personally I would think insurance will be your biggest financial hurdle do to experience, not trying to be mean just honest.
