When it's $1.48/mile versus .48/mile why not aspire to be an o/o?

$1.48 blows....
You can probably survive for a while maybe...... but add in deadhead and down time and your out of business....
The high and mighty around here will say you can make money at that rate.....
I’ll say best of luck to you.rabbiporkchop, dc730, izifaddag and 8 others Thank this. -
For me it would be the satisfaction of having and running my own business but as double yellow's thread makes clear, there is a whole hell of a lot to it.Steel Dragon Thanks this. -

Steel Dragon Thanks this. -
To achieve that cost per mile you have to run a bunch of consistent miles. AND BE VERY LUCKY ON BREAKDOWNS.
Most of the failures I've herd about/witnessed can be traced back to not having the financial resources to repair a broken (or about to break) truck.
You are basically taking on all the financial risk with no financial benefit (until the truck gets paid off) with that contract. Then once the truck is paid for you need to start looking at trading it away because its worn out or in need of Major service money.izifaddag and Steel Dragon Thank this.
