You should be fine. All truckers are bipolar already so you will blend right in.

Its not lithium and I dont usually see it on a list of "caution" medicines...
My physical to get my hard copy permit is being done by my doctor, does that qualify?

Some companies may require you to retake the physical with their doctor. That's how it worked at Swift at orientation on day one. I came in with my CDL and medical card in hand, but they required everyone to retake the physical.

Not the first time I've seen this happen. Seems to be business as usual for pricks to ridicule people with questions around here & that's cool, but god forbid if you try to answer a question regarding a colorful acronym using the military alphabet to fill in for the "naughty word".

Can't really blame the trolls for being trolls when the site promotes the behavior.

I have depression from numerous head injuries. 38 concussions. I take cymbalta for that. Before I found that medication my depression would cause me to take to bed for days at a time. I also cried a lot.

I would think that knowing you are bi polar and getting treatment for it would allow you to function. And that is good enough for me.

I've had my cdl for over a year now and I passed my DOT physical with no problems. I'm also bipolar 2. When I started driving, I was a mess and felt that I should find a new line of work. After talking to a doctor, I was put on meds that required about two months for me to stabilize. Now I feel normal, which is odd after being abnormal for 30 years. I got a job as a yard jockey and the yard I move around in is really tight and theres always truck traffic. It can be very colorful at times. Since I'm properly medicated and DOT legal, I find that I dont get all tore up when things don't go as planned. Phillyguy, if you really want to drive, then I say go for it and ignore all the naysayers.
