This late Thursday evening, I got a redlight on the prepass and pulled into a weigh station I-75S in Northern Ky . Got a bypass light on the rolling scales. I made it to the shack and this is where things got hairy. I got to staring at my speedometer while rolling past the shack to make sure I was under.

When I looked back up, the truck in front of me was half way through the pull in and stop for inspection light. The light was on. However, It went off as the rear of his trailer cleared the lamp. The light stayed off while I was approaching it and passed it. I was around 15-20ft behind the truck in front.

I'm not completely sure if they were signaling me to stop for an inspection or for the truck in front. Needless to say, one of us ran the light. I'm hoping it wasn't me as the indicator was off while I was approaching the light.

What kind of trouble could I be in if they were signaling me to pull in and I didn't? I really don't think they were after me because the light was off as I approached and there was plently of time to light back up the lamp before it was out of view.

It's driving me nuts thinking about it!

Usually they will chase you down if you did something wrong. I think it is just a ticket with a decent fine. Don't think you would be put oos or jail time.

Stay further back from the truck in front of you and you won't have that problem. And keep your window down at least a little, lots of scales like to tell you what to do over the speaker.

I did have my window down. Didn't hear a thing. It's one of the things my driver trainer taught me that stuck.

If they want you to stop..you'll know it.
Fine would be for failure to follow traffic control device.
    Don't sweat it.

Don't worry about it. Some scalemasters are quick about changing the light. If it was a problem you would already know about it.

I'm not sure what the problem is here. The light went off as the other truck cleared the scale, you came up, it stayed off. I'd mash the throttle. Hey, if they wanted you, you'd have known by the end of the ramp.

If they want you they will chase you down. I have drove past scale ramps when backed out onto roadway. Sign still read open. Never been chased down. Yet. Now with a dashcam figure i have more evidence of unsafe condition.

What's wrong with you op, 15 to 20 feet?

Stay at least one full truck length behind the truck in front of you, one and a half is better.
