that complicates it too much, I don t see why there is so much confusion, the title is a title of ownership of the vehicle and it is the domicile of the owner that matters, not the carrier.

The system is setup to allow the plates to come from any jurisdiction, becuase they are just the registration to go on the road. This is because it is a federally regulated activity, and the registration is only meant for tax collection of the domicile state be it for the carrier or the truck owner.

All the trucks I own are with my company address, in my state. We do not allow the companies provide the plates, to me that has always been a problem when I move trucks around and I do from time to time.

What is that phone number you gave me? I just tried to call and it was busy signal. We are still having major issues getting this titled in Washington state. The company the dealer is dealing with says their liason in Washington said we need to get an MCC number or pay the sales tax. This is turning into a huge fiasco and our temporary tag in Missouri is only good for two more weeks so after that I will have to cough up $11,000 in sales tax or park this thing in my driveway and go back to being a company driver. I hate Washington state. my wife has family in Arizona. Could you please tell me what the problem might be if we titled this in Arizona and used her family address? I just want this done and over with. I’m actually at the point where coughing up $11,000 to make this go away sounds good but the whole point of doing this is to make a bunch of money and that would really set us back.

Midnight, call Washington state revenue department and ask them specifically if they have a rolling stock exemption and how it works.it is on the books and all you need is a contract to show them, not an mc number or an authority, the lease contract is the same thing as far as the state is concern, they need proof that the truck is to be used for interstate commerce,

That number is to a dealer. I don't have my contact list here, when I get back to the yard I will post another number.

That seems like a oversight. I'll call the authorities in the morning, they could use some extra dough

I made a lot of calls yesterday and did talk to a volvo dealer in wa and you’re right. The problem is the company in Kansas that the volvo dealer in phoenix hired is dealing with someone in the Wa Dol that thinks otherwise. I can’t apply for title myself because Volvo won’t let me have the certificate of origin. I sent a copy of my o/o contract and a copy of the wa state sales tax exemption form to the dealer for them to forward to the Kansas company. There doesn’t seem to be anything I can do other than cough up the 11K in sales tax or get my own authority which would take weeks. My title application is being held hostage by some wa state bureacrat that doesn’t know or care about the law. I’m exploring the possibility of titling in Az. My wife has family there.

I would then move it to Arizona.

You are caught and don't have time to mess around, i wish I could do something but I can't other than advice.

As far as the cert is concern, I would tell the dealer that either you get one or you won't buy the truck or return it, the dealer has a lot of pull with the company.

    ladr Thanks this.

Thanks for the advice Ridge. Do you know if there’s any problem with titling it in a different state from which you reside? My wife has family in Arizona so we could use one of their addresses. Is there any downside? I’m not sure I even can as some states require proof of residency.

There are a lot of downsides which have to do with liabilities but at this point just do it and deal with those later on.

And no some states don't even require residency.

I bought a truck in CA and I was trying to register in AZ. AZ ask for sale tax, so the dealer from CA delivered the truck in AZ , than I went back in CA and I registered the truck. After a year I just registered the truck in AZ , and there was no sales tax.So you should register the truck in a state were you do not have to pay sales tax.
