while I do agree in part to what your saying sometimes the boss is not always right and that's the reason why so many have quit

i might go back to my last job because they were actually pretty good to me while i was there. the season ended. there is a couple of dump truck outfits closer to my home i might look into. boehmer transport, i have seen their trucks in the winter quite a bit too. ED HUME also out my way. i think they are a major salt haulers. i have paid attention to what dump trucks or semis with dump trailer i have seen running this winter. construction is about as good as it gets for trucking. hourly pay, rate pay.... only if i can find one that will keep me going in the winter. i have never complained about serafini and to this day only have good things to say about them. one of the guys in the shop used to work there and he made some snide remark when i said that's where i came from. i think i said it aint so bad, i have nothing negative to add to the conversation. i went to where i am now as a last ditch effort to keep working this winter because i could not work the overnights (which is all serafini had left). the boss over there said that i am always welcome back and i did a good job. i left on good terms.

whats wrong with going back to where i came from. i worked the full season, found winter work and returned in the spring. i cant see how that looks THAT bad? the only reason i would want a different dump truck or dump trailer outfit is being closer to home. that was THE only drawback about that otherwise decent place to work. its a 40 minute commute from my home.

im also positive IF i return there i can get operating some more heavy equipment, which is what i was starting to do last fall. loading my own dump truck at the yard.

Was your employment terminated or were you just laid off? If just laid off then i guess that means you are still employed there (i think?) so by all means go back if thats what you want. I just meant it might look bad on your resume to be switching employers. Plus I thought you wanted to get a year of class A experience? That will help a lot, especially if its a year with one employer.

Quit. Never work for cheap pay. You live in NY what is the point of working if the pay is so low you can't live a nice life. Also move to somewhere that is a major trucking hub that will help There are container driving jobs that pay #### good and you are home every night and weekends In Chicago for example You can get a lot of different types of driving jobs

i worked there right up until the point where she only had 1 or 2 days a week left. i got the tanker job and informed my previous boss asked her if she would like notice. she said the season was pretty much over and not to worry about it. i said i wanted to make sure the door was still open if i wished to return. i was told the door was always open for me. it ended well, the employment was not terminated as in fired, just no work left for me to do. my return MIGHT look even more attractive to her and her company now that i have more class A exp. perhaps she could use someone for dump trailer, floboy or loyboy on occasion? they do have some combination vehicles.

it was my intention originally to stick around IF i could run consistently and not get stuck adding hours do my day that are uncompensated. then everything falls apart. bad weather, milk cooling problems, farmer not finished in a timely manner. its all B.S.

and then when someone quits my boss tells people that the people that quit "dont want to work anymore". NO. they dont want to work for you and in the dairy industry that seems to think freebies and free time is acceptable work practice.

i worked 6 years in the dairy industry. i think i want my comeback tour to the dairy industry to come to an end. when i worked at the plants all i heard was drivers complain about not getting paid for all of their time, guess what.... now i know why LOL

couldnt agree more. ny state stinks. no industry here, really nothing here but welfare and high taxes. i would love to leave, but it takes money to leave, i have a mortgage and a house i would have to unload. i have a family and a support system here for times like tomorrow when my employer floated my day off on me.... my mom is going to watch my 4 month old son for a few hours, as i had daycare arranged for when i was working.

i was talking to my wife today she's fed up with the weather and taxes. i jokingly said we would move to texas so i could go drive on the oil fields.
