Why do these bigger carriers insist on using their doctor for a physical?
Just to sell CPAP’s
Physical, must use company doctor.

Possibly. Certain companies have specific restrictions though. When I first got out of school Stephen's wouldn't take me because they found out I was on tramadol. Other companies haven't had a problem with it.
FOREVER BLESSED Thanks this. -
My primary doctor is in the approved list and lists all my meds.
Concerta is a sleep study mill.
I refuse to talk to any company that requires their own.kemosabi49 Thanks this. -
There are some doctors that got on the list who overlook some things for a few, I was steered to one but instead decided to address he problem I was having. I can wait a bit until I know I can pass, having kidney problems will kill you if you do not take care of it. Has been a couple of months of working on it and it has been worth the wait, things are on he good side now, pains are gone, just do not want to get in that shape again. It sucked.
FOREVER BLESSED, WesternPlains, Puppage and 1 other person Thank this. -

Using their own doctor they are culling the heard. They are screening out drivers out that might have medical problems. Drivers that might run up their medical coverage or be a risk for workers comp.

Really? Same family doctor forever, he’s not a chiropractor. He knows every time I’ve be n sick and every prescription I’ve had for 15 years...
but sure, some stranger trying to sell me a sleep study would be much better for everyone.. -
Consider you WILL be issued a physical by the NEXT company who has you at orientation for processing pre-hire. If you went to 50 orientations annually all year each week a new company, you WILL be issued 50 Physicals. Each of the ones done before WORTHLESS.
That needs fixing. Somehow I think the Federal Regulations need rewriting or some kind of legislative act of Congress to harden that DOT medical into a form of stone, official. Like a Pilots License, CDL etc. Once you have it in hand, for that time period, 3 mo, 6 mo 1 year or two year.. it should be left alone, treated as valid and move on to something else.
That should slow down the stupid wasteful churn sending hundreds back to the physical. Some of which will probably fail or come up short or something. My last BP reading failed and needed taking manually because they tease me I am suffering white coat syndrome with it. It came in at about 145 over 95 or so. It needed to be a little bit lower than that if I was not so stressed about visiting a completely new doctor two weeks ago.DSK333, sevenmph and Aamcotrans Thank this.
