The school I went to for CDL training sent us to a skid pad in Appleton, Wisconsin for 2 days. Was pretty cool. We went in January so there was ice and snow all over the place. Had us drive all types of trucks. Flatbeds, bobtail, and with a trailer, along with some cop cars for some reason (not actual cop cars but the model and make of cars that most states use for cop cars).
Nice experience. It has already helped me out. I'm soon to be driving for a year now and I'm out in Chicago and Wisconsin with lots of ice and snow. Haven't seen too much. Few inches of snow and ice here and there but it will get worse as winter season actually hits. I'm ready for it! Gotta learn eventually.

I had a container/intermodel truck in front of me doing about 50. Nobody in front of him for a quarter mile. Traffic backing up behind me...there is plenty of room, so i pass him on the left, and 20 seconds later, i get back into the center lane and resume doing 55-60.
another way of looking at it, is say you have flown on an airplane 4 times, and you hear the folks at the security checkpoint pull one out of every 10 people out of line to do a random pat down search. and of those 4 times, you've been selected everytime. Does that mean you can say "man, they pat everybody down". -
Pretty sure he was talking about 94 on the skyway through the city. There is an express lane and a normal lane and it says no trucks allowed in the express lane. -

and i thought there was always a swift truck in the express lane. Hmmmmpf.. -
You would not have been on I94 all the way to Green Bay, since I94 goes to the Twin Cities. You would have been on US41 or I43 from Milwaukee.

want to hear something crazy? I called Swift on Dec/22 to see what the pay rate was for drivers with over 22 years exp. I'm getting ready to go back OTR so I'm researching who's paying what and who's running miles. Swift told me they are no longer hiring exp drivers! I asked why would you not hire a driver with 22 years exp with no accidents, no tickets and clean DAC? She said they are only looking for drivers that they can train the swift way. What in the heck is that about?
