Most (if not all) the good drivers have jobs. You`ll never find anyone that will take care of your truck like you do.It doesn`t matter what you pay them, they still won`t do the job right.Your best bet-a family member or very good friend that you trust.I know lots of owners who have tried the same thing and haven`t had good results.Of course, these are my opinions, you may have better results. All I got was the shaft.

So true.
If you can find a GOOD former O/O, you'll get as close as you can to some one that will take care of the truck.
Figure out how to tie his pay to the truck's performance a little closer than straight up mileage pay and it'll help. -
first off i would have not posted that here, seems to be this web site is all about negitive posting from a bunch of diapers... people who cannot drive like they are suppose to and come here to complain about itEskimo6804 and Hyper Thank this. -
When I worked for United Van Lines I drove a company truck and I took very good care of it, it was cleaned inside on a daily basis and washed on my own time and dime everytime I came home ( depepnding how long I was out or I would have it washed while on the road) wheels polished the whole nine yards, I always looked
for the cheap fuel even though I was'nt paying for it, just the whole deal like it was mine because I take pride in what I do. I drive now hauling rock local ( dont know if this was a good choice) and they wash the trucks every 2 weeks but I'll pull in a car wash every week and atleast spray it off, thats just me I guess!

I am the same way. I take care of my equipment. Just the same as if I owned it.

Heh Tuckster,
I would love to drive your truck but living in Florida would probably be a problem with you living in Va!
Too bad, "I would make you proud"

I used to work for a woman like u she has 4 trucks an hires drivers as a sub contractor so your a driver for hire an not an employee. I was exactly the same way takin care of the truck. It is a pride thing....... your stuck with it 24/7 for 5-6 days a week. Its the first impression of you when u drive into anyplace you show up to
Hyper Thanks this. -
This may sound biased but I think age has something to do with it but more than anything how a person was raised. I was in a situation where I had to borrow a truck while mine was down and actually returned it in better condition than when I recieved it. Its just how I was raised. I believe life is a circle. What I did was as much for me (sounds selfish) as it was for him. He never had to let me use the truck, but I ensured that if I ever need something from him again he will be there for me. I agree it has to do with pride in your work. Whether its driving or construction or anything else. If you do better than you have to whether anyone else notices or not, you can walk away and know you did your very best.
The Challenger Thanks this.
