Sounds like somebody instigating trouble. Since I'm ignoring a certain troublemaker I'm unable to see what the conversation entails.

April fools joke? Just because Mr. CB is a licensed ham doesn't mean a thing. There's licensed hams that can't even build a simple dipole antenna. Also FWIW Mr. CB is only a technician class, probably so he can legally talk on 10 meters using one of his hacked on exports. Furthermore if you are/were a ham, you would know that cutting the modulation limiter, and then plugging it into an amplifier only makes a splattering mess on the air. Sorry there's NO reason that you have to cut a modulation limiter to make it work with an amp. That's the biggest crock of crap I've heard all week. I suggest you learn more about radio theory and encourage Mr. CB to do the same.rabbiporkchop and bored silly Thank this.

Mr. CB died a number of years ago.
After he moved his shop to San Marcos, TX, I had him tune & peak my General Lee, and I always got lots of compliments on how it sounded. I specifically asked him to leave the limiter intact, and he did. -
Was your Mr CB named Dave Stevenson?

I don't remember. It was at least 10 years ago when I had him work on one of my radios.

Some folks have fancy test equipment and lots of book smarts but they still can't figure out what to do with their equipment. This guy is running the output from the radio through two separate 60 DB attenuators under his bench and he scratching his head trying to figure out why his customers amplifier is amplifying the harmonics coming from the radio that he doesn't seem to be able to recognize on his Spectrum analyzer but if you look closely it's all in plain sight. If he eliminated one of those attenuators it would be much more noticeable. It's kind of funny he's trying to blame the amplifier and he's telling his customer to use a low pass filter to filter out the harmonics that he was unable to remove from the radio.
