Back from TMC orientation in south carolina

If I didn't know any better, I'd say I think (and that means "my opinion")(which means you can't tell me I'm wrong) that you are ridiculously sarcastic and just shooting off your mouth, Nahmakanta....

I would have to say that KindSoul is correct in their statement. And if you would take the time to look throughout the forums, you would find NUMEROUS posts stating that the drivers from Swift and Werner had run "outside of the bun".

Also if you look into it a little deeper, you will find that the "Trucker Marine Corps" thing is rather accurate. TMC has a very high level of accountability and they don't put up with a bunch of crap from any driver. So if you are trying to compare them to other companies, you need to a little more education. You obviously haven't done anything other than repeat what one or two disgruntled ex-TMC drivers have said.

Curiosity jumps in.... have you ever worked for TMC and had a personal experience with them? You do need two arms, two legs, and the ability to see if you are going to work for TMC. But you also have to have a good head on your shoulders, the ability to follow rules, and learn to shut your mouth when you have nothing intelligent to say.

Do I work for them? Nope. But I can promise you that they definately have a better reputation than the other two companies mentioned. And their turnover rate is far less than the others. I wonder why that is?

And for the record, you could learn a thing or two from TerryLamar.

i have never been employed by tmc and never made any false statements about them.
the one thing i said about tmc is they hire drivers with no experience.
this information i got from the tmc web pAGE.
if kind soul or any other driver or non driver has something slanderous to say about a trucking companey. they should back it up would some proof and facts or at least say what led to their conclusion.
" i heard another driver say something in orientation or read something on rip off report". is about as accurate as the cb.
i might not know how to spell but i do know how to differentiate fact from truck stop rumor.
i am sure kind soul will come back here and tell us all just what he witnessed from across the street of that swift terminal to make him come on here and bash companies he knows little about.


last time i checked(about two years ago) swift and werner both had pre pass.
if dot allows you to have pre pass you must be running in complience or they strip the priveledge.


yes i
am sure terry lamar is capable of teaching me few things .but i suspect he is a busy man working hard to put bread on his familys table and has little time to be my teacher.

As a former business owner (ambulance business), and in regards to hiring inexperienced employees, I will say this.....

Sometimes, it is better to hire someone with a license but no experience. That way, you are not inheriting bad habits or training from another company. You get a fresh, excited employee that is ready to learn YOUR ways rather than an employee who constantly tell you "Well when I worked for ABC company, we did it this way...". There is definately benefit in that.

As far as what KindSoul saw, I can't possibly speak for them, but I am sure they will be back soon.

Meh...I'll pass on TMC. I don't need some company telling me how to style my hair. I keep it neat and pulled back, but I am growing it longer. I have a college degree and would do my job well, but it appears TMC is more interested in maintaining some kind of Marine Corps appearance.

 

I would have to disagree, just by the picture posted above they look like a fine bunch of driver's but I don't think anyone would mistake them for Marines.

 

Sure, I see your point. I don't think they should tell me how much I weigh, when I work, how clean I keep the truck and maintain their property, whether I do drugs or drink in the truck. TMC should be happy I came to work for them in the first place. I think I going to give myself a raise.

 

I think it's moreso for safety splenda. Just think if that long hair got tangled in a chain while tossing it over.

 

I am not an employee of TMC, but own a flatbed and have seen allot out here.

It is a safety issue, the long hair. You get into a loading situation, and all sorts of things can go wrong. You will also find that some shippers and consignees will also have certain grooming standards that will keep you off of the property due to safety concerns, long hair, beards, etc. Some will even require you to sit through a ten minute safety presentation before you enter their property, again for safety.

Welcome to flatbedding. And if you want to do it, most companies will require you to meet certain standards, be they grooming or attitude. Not a time to screw around out here, there are allot of out of work or little work, experienced guys out here that know the job and what is expected of them.
