had it been me or anyone else here, we would have left that milk job a long, long time ago. although, we can't really judge his employer solely by what he says (he seems to have a lot to say for a newbie), we have to take what he says with a grain of salt.
i "heard" he is afraid of the 53 footers. that i can understand, if he had my night job, making 2 deliveries in downtown Boston, chinatown and southie.
he does not want to go OTR, or long haul as i and many others here did, back in our day, to get "our feet wet", as he claims there is no money in that, oh contre Pierre, there IS money in OTR/long haul, if you work the system right.
there IS money to be made in regional and city work as well, but again, one must know how to work it.
no one is going to give him a job, he needs to pound the pavement to find it.
it is somewhat difficult to maneuver a 53 in downtown Boston, but then again, i have nearly 40 years in as well. take into account my location, and his, and i am sure as can be, the city streets where he lives are a cake walk to mine.
we cannot hold his hand, we cannot coddle him. he should be a grown man, although at times, it appears he is a man-child.
it is one thing to grip about our employer, or our job, but the constant barrage of his, is way too much. i think his driving school sold him a "Bill of Goods" that everything in trucking is peaches and cream, and gold brick paved roads.
why some schools tell any student that is beyond me. when i attended school back in the 1800's, i was told the job is dirty, tiring and you're lucky you get home at the end of the day still alive.
"the new generation" of truckers certainly are not the truckers of my time. in other words, mere steering wheels holders.
absolutely unbelievable DWI, one of our company drivers
