Merry Christmas. Wayne never made it home. They got the truck fixed but gave them a load to pick up on Ill and deliver to Salt Lake...Then they have to take a load to LA Ca. He is really upset. He wanted so much to be here. Now, we won't see him until Monday or Tuesday. We will be waiting for him with open arms.

How is their lease program bad? Is there others out there that are better? If so what should I look for? I considered leasing directly from a dealer but I don't have gold plated credit so that's probably not happening. Any advice?
-
Chaining is all I no now yesterday I went 160 miles on em tru OR into CA I've been running back and forth from CA to WA via the 97 into Spokan. Got a load said I would not make my appt time due to weather and roads will miss it by 4 hrs O WELL. I dont mind chaining up but I don't get paid for it and loose miles due to the snow.
Hope things work oput for you Brickman as for me still looking for a local gig maybe hauling hay saw a couple adds for that it will work for now.
As for all you new drivers remember one thing things don't always go the way they sound this holds true for Central. -
My Fiance is in the L/O program, you can make decent money if you run the miles, The Fuel Surcharge is only paid on loaded miles, the trucks do NOT come with an APU, The lease is three years and you pay the Blue Book Value on the truck at the end of three years, Central Pays 0.85 cents a mile loaded and empty, there other charges are higher then a few Companies that lease, Now the nice things, you can put chicken lights on the truck, Power inverter (Wouldn't do unless you intend to buy it)
Central tend to give L/O more miles then Company drivers (Obviously so they can pay the Lease Payments) You don't have to accept a crappy load........BUT if you refuse the load they WILL tell you there is nothing in that area and leave you sit for a day or so.
We take all loads and but let them know the next load had better be good miles, How many miles you get a week depends on your FM........JJ has a great FM who really does her best to get him the miles, it also depends on your attitude, we know a few lease guys who have FMs out of Conley and they are getting crappy miles.
Its an OK lease program, there are better programs out there if you have over a year OTR recent experience.
Hope this answered a few of your questions. -
Merry Christmas Wolfden.......Really sorry Wayne couldn't be home for Christmas. Did he put in for Christmas off?
-
Wolfden, please let us know that Wayne made it home safely.
I'm hoping that if one thing comes from these hard times it is the return of the family feeling that Central used to have. It was always tradition to flash our lights to each other or go to the company channel (channel 5) to chat a bit when we would see each other.
I miss that... -
Wayne called at 1:30am this morning to say they had stopped for the night because of weather. Last i knew they were in Wy. He called from a pay phone because he does not get signal there. They put in for 2 days off....Christmas Eve and Christmas. The truck broke down last week and they stayed in a motel room for 3 days until it was fixed. Tuesday morning it was finished and we thought he might make it if they got a load to here but no dice. They sent them further north and the load was gonna goto Utah. After that, they are gonna make them goto Cali, then head them home?? Makes no sense to me and Wayne is very unhappy about it. We have pushed Christmas off until he gets home. It is very rough on the kids and me. We were without power last night for 4 hours. It didn't even seem like Christmas in Bullhead City. After being in northern Nevada for 4 years and having actual winters, this sucks! Plus our oldest 2 daughters are on their own now so that makes it worse. I am seriously thinking of moving back north. Our 18yo is still in Elko and called last night to say she was being snowed in at work. She said the snow was to her shins. I have been looking into Idaho and rentals there. My 18yo needs to goto college and the only way we are gonna get her to go is to move up there and make her. She wants to go, but she found out, taking care of yourself is not all it's cracked up to be.
Hey 6 Pak, you still looking into Dot? I seen your posting. I read that they just opened a new place in Idaho....Couldn't imagine unloading your own truck though.
So for now, the kids and i wait for him to get home. He hasn't called yet today so i hope he is safe. Hope you all had a great Christmas. -
thanks for the answer. I was trained by a great trainer who is a O/O and it shouldn't be too hard to do well leasing from central. I'm looking forward to seeing their new International ProStars. I was considering a Volvo as my first lease since its cheap and gets good gas milage (cummins/13 speed) My company volvo has a volvo engine and is a 9 speed. I'm lucky if I get 5.7 mpg. But I heard from a new prostar owner that they get 7.6 pulling 40k and it's wasn't broken in yet.

We average high sixes, Low sevens and have done since the day we got the Pete (2009 Peterbilt)
L/O trucks are goverened at 65mph (forgot to mention that last post) I didn't know Central were getting Internationals, at the moment they Have Petes, Volvo's and Kenworths.Last edited: Dec 27, 2008

February. Supposedly no more volvos are coming in. I was talking to one of the mechanics in the WVC shop, and he claimed to hear it from Isaacson himself, one day when he was down there. Personally, I'm waiting to see before I totally believe it.
