Hey, Need some advice on which CB to get as a first one. I haven't really needed it but I wish I would've had it sometimes during bad weather/traffic etc. Are the ones that are sold at the truckstops worth it? Should I buy on Amazon? I'd like to get a good one and as easy "plug and play" as possible. Wouldn't mind spending 200-300 for a decent set up.. If that uncludes mic/antenna and everything I'd need to set it up in the truck.
Thanks for the help.

Starting off you can't really go wrong with any cheap radio. Cobra. Uniden.
Have to get 18 feet of cable and have the antenna trimmed.CorsairFanboy Thanks this. -

I got a uniden from a T/A for under $99. I am sell-taught on the CB lingo. A lot of people tell me to shut up.

My first CB only had 6 channels...bought it new, and it came with just two crystals...channel 19 and 9, you had to buy crystals for the other 4 channels if you wanted more channels...never did get all 6, just maybe 2 more...payed almost $100 for that POS Realistic junk too...of course that was back in 74...

If you're only going to use it as a "back up" radio, save your money. You can get another driver to roll his window down and ask him what's going on for free.
Just saying. -
I'd like to know of potential hazards ahead of time. Not when we're all stopped.RustyBolt Thanks this.

Tune in a local AM Radio station that gives traffic reports...more reliable than CB...just sayin.
In North Texas that would be KRLD 1080AM...gives traffic reports all day on the 8's.CorsairFanboy Thanks this.
