    Ok fellas, I've posted on here before but a lot had changed since. I'm looking to get my cdl stuff finished up summer of next year. My intentions are to truck for a company like Schneider maybe as a company tanker driver. My intentions are to get some experience under my belt and then persue a owner operator position for a couple years. I'm located in PA and don't mind relocating to make it work (NE region). Above all, I want dedicated hauls on a consistent basis. Is this something I can find through schneider? What other companies should I consider?

    I've heard horror stories of people becoming owner operators with Schneider and having horribly maintained trucks for purchase. I want to buy my own truck and setup it up the way I want as long as it meets what's required to haul for whatever company I'm trucking for. I have no experience with Schneider specifically or any other company. Also....I don't mind longer hauls for a dedicated route, especially if its from coast to cost (loaded each way). Any suggestions?

    Get your Class A with all of the endorsements. Go with Schneider. Tanker division seems pretty decent for a rookie. Pay attention to your training pulling a tank. Drive for them 1-2 years and get back to us after that.

    Fair enough. How's the training with Schneider compared to other companies (tanker division)?

    I would say very good. They do have a very good training program, pretty well documented. I would not hesitate recommending Schneider to a new driver.

    I’ve never worked for Schneider but after I got my license it was a possibility. They were the only mega that seemed to not sketch me out. They seemed upfront. Some others I was in contact with just wanted a body in that seat, they could care less about much else.

    I ended up being one lucky son of a gun and a local mom and pop tanker outfit hired me. Got my 1 year then hauled gas.

    Schneider seems like a solid starter company. And to boot, they have a tanker division. Tanker is where it’s at. Above average pay and less waiting from my experience. Go with them and get some miles under your belt. Put the O/O stuff on the back burner for at least 5 years.

    As far as the driving part Schneider is probably as good as the next. But their chemical tanker training is pretty good. If you pay attention to what they say you will be prepared to go out and do the work.

    OP, you’re goals and intentions are fine. The only advice I’ll offer is this: since you have no experience at this point, just be open to change/adjust those goals often. You may not need to, just be prepared to. Once you jump in the water, the current could change dramatically.

    I haul tankers for my co regionally , most of the Schneider drivers I encounter seem like they're trained well and are up to speed on each plant's policies and procedures. That and it doesn't take them 30 min or more to back like some of the other outfits I've seen
