Understandably. Its more or less the direction I want to go for personal and future business reasons. But I do like consistency and familiarity.

What could I expect my first year for pay? Again I'm looking for something dedicated route related...don't have to be home every night.

I'd bet somewhere in the 35k to 50k with no experience ,depending on the company's acessorial pay etc

That's not bad...its pretty close to what I'm making right now working 80 hours a week between 2 FT jobs.

Never mind the pay manage your expenses each trip to ensure you have something saved on every load.

O/O stuff does not figure right now. Not for a number of years. If that is what you want to run for yourself it should not take you long to stack your money until you have a truck free and clear cash.

Best piece of advice I can give you, never let your guard down halling tanks. Poor shifting, hard braking, not paying attention to what lies ahead of you, will wake that monster back there and try and push you into things *smooth bore. Just do your due diligence during training, don't tailgate and you'll be fine

I had started a CDL course through a local tech school a year ago and never finished. It was hard to learn when they had 5 instructors each teaching a different way to drive on 6 different trucks. That was while working a full time job so it was hard to retain anything they were trying to get through to me. Next time I will be going to a dedicated trucking school. When I withdrew from the course....the head instructor was surprised because I was excelling at handling a rig better than the other students. I just didn't feel comfortable with my ability I guess. This time around ill be able to put my entire focus on learning, to which I'm eager to do.

Not to mention tripping the trailer and rolling it in a curve by not paying attention, taking it too fast and riding up on a curb.

No worries. It's something you don't think about because it's a no-brainer for you. :)
