It is my understanding some states by law will not allow a CDL holder to attend driving school to get a charge reduced. A 46 in a 30 ticket is a serious matter, however it is not career fatal. These situations is where I start to change my basic opinion about trying to confront the charge head on either by fighting it in court or seeing if the person prosecuting you will consider a reduction of the MPH over in return for a guilty plea. You have an advantage in doing this because from what I have read this happened near your home. GO see about getting this done. Hand, i'm begging you for the sake of your career, be mindful of your speed in or out of a CMV and slow the hell down!

Back when I worked for estes, it was written in the handbook that if you went to jail it had to be reported immediately. Now if I'm on days off from work and get into a bar fight. What does that have to do with the job?

No need to beg! This is a, “hey idiot, when will you stop making your life harder...” type of moment. Unfortunately I seem to learn best from f ups. And I seem to have a part of me that hates me and is set on making me my own worst enemy lol. I just hope I can get through this without wrecking my record/job.

It is interesting you bring up a company rule about reporting jail. While it is not jail and is probably one of THE MOST violated rules in 49 CFR. A driver has 30 days to notify their state DMV AND their employer of violations after being convicted of said violation. I have always found 383.31 to be a very interesting rule. Also I am aware of section D of that rule. I am not sure if any state has been decertified according to 384.405. The various states are required to report these violations but some don't. I have speeding tickets form North Carolina as well as New Mexico that never got on my MVR. Were never brought up in any of the orientations I went through. I'm not trying to make a point here. Just spitballing. Sometimes these rules in 49 CFR can make you want to take a page out of @IluvCATS book and run around the house naked screaming at the moon.

Sure there is. Tickets and driving records in many states will specify if the infraction was incurred while operating a CMV. This makes any other vehicle outside this scope in fact, personal.

In the eyes of insurance companies once you get a CDL they don’t care if you were in a personal vehicle or not. All tickets affect insurance and the ability to get hired.

I don't care if you're riding a tricycle on the sidewalk.. if you have a CDL.. there is no such a thing as a personal vehicle.. You get a citation.. your CDL becomes damaged. The fact that many come on discussion boards and pretend that there is some way to set aside or differentiate the citations is just in my opinion selective ignorance. You have one license.. everything you do while using it regardless of vehicle type damages that license.

    Car isn’t inspected - it’s the 16th ... no excuse for that.
