Bad idea !! Don't send a letter or any kind of document to them. If you do you are giving them proof to to their claim. It took them 5 yrs to bill you? Yeah right ! Something isn't right.

Not responding is a bad idea if the debt is within the statue of limitations.

Get a fake death certificate and send it to the collection agency.

as i am reading the many responses, what we need to understand/realize, is that Prime is in another state from where he lives? is this true?

if so, since each state has differing limits, Primes state may be able to chase him longer than the state he lives in. as the contract was signed in Primes state, especially when he went to orientation. sure he may have gotten many forms in the mail BEFORE he went to Prime, that he may have had to sign, but what is the origin of the location of the credit from? it would be THOSE banking rules that apply.

like (as an example) his state may have credit interest rates of say 24%

Primes state may have interest rates of 35%

they can (and will) add all the accrued finance charges on him, and that crap alone can add up to more than his CDL training fee's.

There's a lot of good stuff on the internet. That's where my cousin acquired his 4 yr. business degree for a small fee.
"The trucking company won't hire me until I show my high school diploma. I didn't finish high school. What can I do; it's my dream job."
Buy one online for $100.00 and for a few more dollars buy the transcripts also.

if you still have your pay stubs, you can easily see it they already started deducting for the training. if som then YOU DID SIGN on the proverbial dotted line.

even (i believe) your W-2 forms (if you save those) this may show up as "added deductions" or wording to that effect.

you may alos be ablle to access your payroll dept via the web to get copies of your pay stubs.or you can call them and ask them to send you copies of (say) your last 4 weeks. again, if any monies are deducted, you signed a contract.

frankly, it IS STANDARD procedure to have students sing tone of papers at orientation. so i am of the belief, you DID SIGN for training, otherwise, they would have kicked you out of orientation
