I always stop for school buses if I'm at where School Buses are at. Mostly, happen when I'm driving a road on School Zone. I always slow down when I automatic see the yellow amber lights going on, I'm just going to stop there no use trying to pass a School Bus.

Except in the scenarios I posted earlier...if you stop in one of the lanes that is supposed to keep moving, you're likely to raise the ire of those behind you trying to legally get through, especially if you're on what is technically a state route, such as is the case in my neck of the woods. You stop in front of 45 mph, 4 lane traffic (each way), you're asking to potentially get rear-ended by someone who's not prepared for your stopped/stopping vehicle.tscottme and James Johnson Thank this.

Route one in Princeton, NJ, NB there is a house and dog kennel business; probably the last residence on this over developed 6 land divided highway. You should see the confusion when the school buss pulls over on the shoulder and hits the yellow lights next to three lanes doing 55+...
The lights didn't turn red until the child walks out thru the fence. and all you see are brake lights but nobody stops... -
Respect to these school bus drivers. They transport our kids to school and home safety. Don't pass a school bus if stopped with stop sign and the crossing arm is extended. I'll always stop for the school bus I care about kids. I don't want to see a kid getting hit by a passing car not stopping for the school bus. Please be smart with school buses. Don't be a dumb ### with school buses.
