    Worst part there are laws protecting him. They have to pay what was agreed upon when they hired him. As what he ows them. They can take him to small claims court

    Actually, they owe him the money regardless.

    He’s a 1099 employee, that means he’s a private contractor and it’s up to him which loads he takes.
    Otherwise you are considered an employee by federal labor law, which is a W2 position.
