hello-
wanted to use my first post here to thank wsyrob for all the great info here. i read every word of it multiple times when trying to choose a company to train with after school. some of my instructors suggested superior, and what you posted here was a huge help in building my confidence to go with them even though starting with tanks was a bit intimidating.
i started training with superior at the terminal in karns city PA in late november. just wanted to come back here and thank you for all the time you put into describing your experiences with them. it was a huge help in making a decision. seems like the it was the right one!
thanks again.wsyrob Thanks this. -
Thanks for the encouragement. If you are training out of Karns City you are getting great experience. That terminal is probably the hardest to get to especially in the winter. If you can do that day in and day out you will be fine everywhere else. Superior is a great company and right out of school can't be beat.

Hope he is ok now and that it wasn't anything serious. He seemed like a great guy who got into trucking for the right reasons. I look forward to seeing both of you out there someday. I have been to your terminal 3 times since I started and did a restart at the company hotel in Mobil once. We seem to run a lot from Greensboro to Plaquemine La and Richmond Va to Houston.

12/22-12/28
I got to the yard about 7:30 AM on Monday. Checked the oil and water and fired up the truck. It was about 17F so the truck started hard. I let it warm up a bit while I caught up on the log book, then found my loaded trailer on the yard and backed under it. I noticed a coolant leak and pulled my trailer into the inbound check line and had the mechanics take a look at it. They turned off a valve and told me I would be ok to deliver the load since it was so close.
I headed to Charlotte with my whopping 13,000 lb load. It only took 20 minutes once I got the trailer pressured up to air it off. I had a tank wash message to drop the trailer in Greensboro. I got there, and while I was cranking down the landing gear my truck engine died. I had a "coolant level fault" qualcom message and a red light on the dash. I went ahead and turned in the paperwork to the truck wash, then poured the 2 gallons of antifreeze I always carry in my side box into the radiator. Fired up the engine and the red light went out so I headed back to the terminal.
I pulled into the shop for them to fix my coolant leak and checked with dispatch. I was told that they had nothing and that I was off for Christmas. This week will be my worse check since starting at Superior. My advice is to always take 3 days of vacation over Christmas since there won't be any loads anyway and you get 2 days holiday pay.
I have a N Chicago dedicated load for Monday 12/29.Big Duker Thanks this. -
I am sorry to say that Sid died of cancer in September. It happened very quickly he was diagnosed in Feb. I am so glad that you liked him. Everyone did he was the greatest guy. Superior has been really great with me all through his sickness. They kept me close to home, they gave me a local spot. Now I drive local and regional, I have a day cab and a sleeper. This company has been so supportive of me, I couldn't tell you all that they have done for me. Hopefully no one else will have happen to them what happened to me. But I here to tell you that Superior will help you through it. I couldn't work for a better company.

That is shocking. I had no Idea. I am so sorry to make you type that. I will keep you in my prayers.

Girl, I don't even know what to say. I feel for ya, and wouldn't know what I'd do in that situation.

WSY,

Thank you for your prayers. I really appreciate them. Prayers and work are what get me through it all.
