I'm well aware of that. That's my point, they have no moral high ground, the people that accept the way they run this racket should be ashamed of themselves.

    I did write that a bit awkwardly didn't I?

I think this whole thread is evidence that a lot of people buy a truck unprepared to fully run a business. It's like being a better paid company driver, until something happens, a breakdown or accident that leaves them without income for a few weeks or more, a dispute with a broker or customer, and they have no idea what is actually in their contract, what they are supposed to do.

Don't forget at least half of the truck drivers in here are against you too. Nothing hates a truck driver more than another truck driver

Anyone remember the video of the irate Chinaman throwing pallets of stuff out the back of his trailer and on the ground because they refused to unload him ?

I've never worked in an industry that values honesty and integrity less than the current trucking industry.

With that said, you should have lied about why you were late. Always blame it on traffic or something else out of your control.

Now, get in there and tell that receiver a whopper about how you need to get unloaded asap because you have to get home to attend to a dieing relative, wife in labor, etc., etc

That was the first thing I thought of. I looked, but couldn't find it. I have to admit, under the right circumstances, I'm not above that behavior. If I was at the receiver, but an hour late to check in and they told me 5 days for 4 pallets?

This place has always been a PITA. Last time I was there was 1989 or 1990 it was a pain then. I told them to get a good look at my ### they would never see it again. One of the reasons I haven't hauled a load of groceries in 25 yrs.

Same thing happened to a buddy of mine a few months ago. He arrived at 4:00 am for a 5:00 appt. there was a long line of trucks at the guard shack. 5:05 when he gets in, they marked him late and rescheduled his appt for 4 days later.
