Maybe @Bob Dobalina can help. I don't know that he ever gets up to the Chicago area, but maybe he can tell you where to find out what you want to know.

If Dayton isn't hiring and you want to do linehaul, check with ODFL next door. Their Crest Hill terminal is a big one, and lots of locations are adding drivers at the moment.

I can ask one of our guys who meets a MDW driver every night to see if that guy knows anything. I'm not going to Indy regularly these days, so I don't cross paths with those guys like I used to.

The best thing to do is to apply online anyway. That way you'll be in the system and can call to follow up on your application. P&D drivers get first dibs on linehaul openings, so a lot of us did city work first. But you never know - several guys at my barn were hired off the street for linehaul because the entire city board passed on the opening. Good luck!

I live pretty close to the Greenwood indiana terminal. They have a p&d position available. Anyone know of the hours id get a week with them? And are they union? Any advice greatly appreciated?

Not union, but we are among the best non-union carriers in terms of pay and benefits.

I'm not sure how they run P&D in Indy, but given Dayton pays OT after 40, they try to keep staffing levels to where drivers aren't getting crazy amounts of OT all year round. At the same time, they don't lay off when it gets slow like some companies do. You might get 40 when it's slow and get well over 50 during the busy season. Some people manage to make a killing even when it's slow by working the dock. @Buckeye91 may be able to elaborate on his experience. He's in the city and I'm on linehaul.

It's a great company with a positive culture. It's honestly the best job I've ever had. If you live near the terminal it's even more of a no-brainer.
