The inescapable fact is insurance for new drivers costs a company a lot more than experienced drivers and new drivers are in more accidents and screw up a lot more so you will be paid less until you have paid your dues. I wish you both luck but don’t think you’ll find 50 cpm at a training company. We started in 2015 at 32 cpm and were up to 44 cpm after a year.

Midnightrider909 - we kind of figured, but like I told ridgeline, just thought we'd ask. And we'll take all the luck, prayers, blessings, & positive vibes we can get!

You can still make a lot at a training company. We saved 40K our first year.

Well I get where you're coming from, but see the reality for many of us is that good drivers are hard to find for fleets and we go through many to just find one. This costs us money but a more importantly is the impact of this thing we call a revolving door has impacted us so badly with insurance, suppressed rates and a public image that is worst than drug dealers working a grade school.

Well, that's a good emergency fund! Whatever company we chose, we will try to save as much as we can. Thanks for the encouragement...

I definitely understand these things, and as previously stated, it wasn't our intention to just up and go. I know we would be a great asset to any company because of our integrity and work ethic. But when it comes to priorities in my life, my family is always at the top of the list, anything else comes after, so this is where we are...

McCauley - thank you! We had previously checked them out, but the pay didn't match. But I really appreciate it!

I just thought about something: isn't there a plethora of drivers on here that tell newbies to drive with a company for a year and then switch? Is there that much of a difference in what I asked?

There is a difference between trying to get a rookie driver out of a scum sucking, low paying, highly abusive environment and what you are looking for.

That rookie looking to advance his/her career. YOU wanna come out and play truck driver for a year.

You are not serious about this field. This is not your vocation. And if you are looking for a quick path to big money, boy oh BOY did you pick the wrong field!

Rookies are lucky to break $30,000 gross for the first year or two. And inexperienced rookie teams don't do much better. There is a lot more to team driving than just gripping the steering wheel and wondering where you are stopping for lunch. Teams gotta ROLL 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Many times doing a "rolling 34" to maintain hours. And teams get tight scheduled freight. Especially in the dry van/reefer world.

Go be a band roadie. Get to see the countryside, possible chance to,do touristy crap, travel, and you even get paid a buck or two. Plus, if it's a band you like, free concerts.
