Schneider Used Truck Sales.

Does anyone have experience buying Used Truck(s) from Schneider? The trucks are posted on their website Schneidertrucks.com with prices. In looking and talking to them, they seem legit. Their prices are very good. The sales rep I talked to said they are well maintained and they go through an extensive checklist (Annual Vehicle Inspection) before pickup. They have some trucks that have a warranty, but most do not. I know their trucks are governed, so the trucks haven't been beaten on. Thoughts?

 

March of 2017, I bought a 2011 cascadia from Schneider in Harrisburg, PA. $29,500 with 470k miles. It is now 1 year since, and i have ran 110,000 miles. The biggest problem i had with the truck was the DEF system. Fluid went bad sitting too long at SNI yard. Lots of emission sensor issues. The emission check engine light came on 1 hour after i left the lot. As is with no warranty and the sales lady couldnt help me out. Spent $15k on emission related issues with over 12 shop visits on first 90 days of truck ownership.

My second biggest issue is that i am averaging 5 to 5.5mpg running 30k loads, van and flatbed doing 60 to 70 mpg. Been like this from day 1. Odometer shows over 7mpg for life of truck. Havent resolve this issue and never will. Perhaps i need to turn the truck power back down.

The biggest drawback is you cannot drive the truck outside of their property to test drive it, or have it inspected by another shop.

On the plus side, schneider shop will fix all DOT related items on truck before you take posession of truck. They will fix air leaks, Power mirrors and switches, put newer used batteries in, etc. Will also turn on idle enable, and turn truck power up or down. No charge to you.

I am not saying that Schneider trucks are bad, just that the one i got was not an ideal truck.

I remember you writing about the def going bad from sitting too long.

I tried to buy one 3 different times, but either couldn't agree on a price or truck was sold before I pulled the trigger. I wanted a midroof glider from the tanker fleet and those sell really really fast.
