I never saw so many screw ups in my career as I saw for the 7 years I hauled fuel.
Guys scullying out at racks, ripping scully cord off driving out of loading rack, grabbing wrong bol, cross drops, spills. Very high turnover, more rookie drivers coming in and screwing up more and more.
But the companies with load pay screw drivers out of money. Expect them to work for free waiting at racks giving up first hour or more unpaid and any waiting time paid is extremely low $ rate.
The guy that had the spill in the video I’m guessing was on load pay, and got into a hurry.
So I feel some empathy for the fuel drivers.
But the companies. No. They deserve to have
to write the big checks to pay for driver screw ups. Company I worked for had a guy cross drop at a station that was closed on night shift.
Well the guy was pretty well constantly mad at the company so he decided he wasn’t gonna tell anyone he put diesel in the gas tank. The store opened not knowing what he did and 14 vehicles fueled up and most didn’t make it out of the parking lot. The company had to pay for all the vehicle repairs as well as compensate the station.
The few companies that pay hourly don’t have nearly as many of these types of incidents.
Rough first day as tanker.

And that's what I was, paid by the hour. I got luck enough to that I only had a o sit in line at price changes a few time. My broker seemed to get wind of it and he got my loads to me in a timely manner.
Had one shipper accuse me of stealing 1500 gallons of no-lead. Long story short, his bulk driver was pulling a load when I would pump one off. They suggested that he find employment elsewhere. -
Oops! My bad!
