Being new to the business, i have yet to run into those situations. And if i did, i would hardly get upset about it. Just today, i was at a Flyin' J and saw a big 4-wheeler truck with a big boat parked in the trucks area. i didnt think much of it other than the driver was probably tired driving for a while and needed a rest.

As far as refusing to pull forward to let a box truck or an RV fuel....i find that kinda stoooopid. I fuel, i pull forward to the pay line, i could care less who was behind me. They are still a person.

Now, i will tell you a few things that kinda annoy me. I'm going 62 down the interstate, where say this speed limit is 65 or 70. Yet i have a 4-wheeler who thinks if they draft me, they will get an extra few miles per gallon. Mythbusters did a thing on this, and they found it is hardly noticable. so why do it? another thing, is 4-wheelers who dont know how to merge properly....there is a thread on this already, but if you are entering an interstate, step on that pedal on the right that we call the "GO" pedal. You pace a big truck, you've got plenty of room in front of them, they see you and slow just a bit to let you in......MOVE YOUR CAR AND GET GOING !!!!!! you DONT slow down from 55 to 30, then 20...because you think the truck driver dont see you. Haul your tail and get into traffic. (i even got on my mom about that over Christmas....lol)

and lastly....dont cut off a truck driver. A week or two ago, i was behind a tanker....we were in the far right lane of a 3 lane interstate. there was a 4-door tan chevy malibu in the middle lane....and i kid you not....without hesitation, that car was about to miss their exit...and swerved across the front of the tanker, and he almost didnt have time to react. the car cleared the tanker by what looked to be a foot, if not a fraction more. When you 4-wheelers do this....i do not think you understand just how close to DEATH you come. you've got a truck that at most weighs 80,000lbs. your car weighs maybe 3,000 - 4,000. who do u think is going to win? a big truck will squish you like you were tin foil. and after the accident investigation is finished....the truck will pull away. Think about it next time you think you need to make a wild move just because you might miss your exit. make a mistake, and you wont have to worry about missing anymore exits. Because if you do get into a wreck with a big truck, and by chance make it out alive....you will be lucky to get coloring books for christmas for the rest of your life.

I think people are so miserable inside with the way their lives are that they just spill out on anyone, anywhere, anytime. Mostly because they can't control their emotions, their emotions control them.

Guess you've never been by a rest area where the trucks are parked out both ends and down the highway? There really isn't that much truck parking for all the trucks on the roadway.

Remember we are not suppose to be on exit and entrance ramps, not piled out the rest area or piled up trying to get into a rest area. Weather makes the best of situations the worse when it comes to parking.

I've had to get out of the bunk and hunt the dotted line because the fog has been thicker than pea soup and there is no where to park a truck on a night like that. Yeah...my partner has driven through some pretty tough weather in her years and never complain except...."hello can't find the road need help". We don't run the right lane since who knows if everyone really has gotten off the roadway we are in the "hammer lane" hunting our way down the road.

As far as truck stops oh excuse me....travel centers....if you're not a tractor & trailer together....that mean if you're just the tractor pay attention....you don't belong in the lot for trucks! Yep tractors can park where the cars and RV's are suppose to hang out .... up front. Nothing pisses me off more than a tractor with no trailer taking up a much needed space. :biggrin_2551:

If you don't understand why we get mad because of parking issues then you've never seen it when a road is closed and there are more trucks than parking spaces available. You know we just can park anywhere there seems to be laws that the general public has imposed up us. Let's not even go down the road about us idling. :biggrin_25516:

Most truck stops I know of don't allow that and will tell a bobtail or straight truck they can't park there .

I think that most of the problem is, when you see trucks parked on on ramps and overflowing the truck side of rest areas, are drivers who just dont care to do one simple thing. PLAN. They want to run as many of their 11 hours, and they stop wherever they happen to be. They could stop 15 miles back at a truck stop, but no....they need to roll on and get those extra 15 miles behind them.

as far as your other statement, 'if you are not a truck and trailer together..." i am guessing you are either talking about just 4-wheel trucks? cause if you are talking about bobtailing, sorry, if i am just a bobtail, and there isnt specific bobtail parking, i'm parking in a big truck spot. I dont think you are talking about that....so ill leave it be. :yes2557:

I've had a couple of nights where I was bobtail and picking up a trailer in the morning. I never even thought of parking in a truck/trailer spot at a t/s because I know how aggravating it is to look for a spot and bobtails are all over the place cause the t/s has that sign out in the front parking lot "No Bobtail Parking".

Mall parking lots, walmart, 24 hour McDonalds, even in an Outback Steakhouse parking lot one night after a really good steak dinner with a bobtail! :biggrin_25520: You don't HAVE to be in a truck stop bobtail if you aren't dragging around a 53 footer that night! It's not really that hard to find alternative parking bobtail instead of taking valuable spaces away from your brothers (and sisters) out there on the road. Just my opinion.

The truck stop my hubby parks at actually has a bobtail section. I have seen a few others with bobtail sections too.
