Yep, took me about 30 minutes to get my shopping done and another 15 minutes to get everything squared away. Then had to sit there and needlessly burn an hour and fifteen minutes to complete my split instead of driving another 10 miles up the road to the TA where I’d have had time to shower. The government made that choice for me.
Three more hours added to the fourteen hour duty status

Hold up horse. That posted you quoted was in response to something i posted. I said ORIGINAL hos rules. Not the ones we had prior to the big overhaul in the early 2000s when the 14 hour clock was put in. I'm fully aware of how things were under what we commonly call the old rules, i was trucking then. Bought my first in 95. -
And i think you have rose colored glasses when looking back. I'm not dating elogs are wonderful, but i certainly don't want to go back to the days of heavy doctoring of the log book. Miami to Seattle and back in 6 days flat out sucked. Solos being expected to make team runs one a regular basis was not a good thing. Imo one of the best things to happen in the industry was the dot emphasizing hos. Thart fiorced customers and brokers to get away from the "run illegal or we will get someone that will".
Edit to add: and its still fun most days.Oxbow Thanks this. -
Or you could have stopped for a shower on your last 10.
You make the choices. All 395 does is set the gameboard, the moves are yours.Express12$ and gentleroger Thank this. -
That's it. Being off duty as I drive my POV to chase parts and run any other errands I might need to take care of is NOT log falsification, because nothing I'm doing falls under the definition of "on duty time".taodnt, Truckermania and Oxbow Thank this. -

Wait one.........
Nope still not caring.
I foresee what will happen with any flexibility. We will be back to the slack jawed zombies of yore. Oh I know 33% are just naturally that way in the industry. But far two many falsify and extend their work day when the 14 hour clock is moved around. Most of these people can not maintain focus for 14 hours, by 17 they need euthanized and removed from the road.
There is no problem with the 14 hour clock in my opinion. Any hard working reasonably intelligent individual can make a #### good living inside 395. Those that can not need to leave the industry.tucker Thanks this.
