Truck school operators blame economy for shutdown

More of them need to close . Too many are taking money from students knowing many of them won't find jobs unless it's with a carrier they will end up leaving within months when they find they don't get enough miles to pay their bills .

 

I agree with you there Rick. Also, some of them seem to put people through school that will not get hired anyway because of criminal or driving records.

 

I'm still a wannabe for another week or so, but as I graduated today from the driving school that I attended, I feel compelled to comment. As with anything, there is good and bad. At the Sage Technical Services school that I attended, I have personally witnessed, including again today, the school Director questioning potential applicants about their driving and criminal histories. As was the case today, she is quick to tell those with problem backgrounds that they can attend the school, but they will most likely not be able to find employment in the industry. I'm not niave enough to believe that there aren't schools out there that will take someone's money without a care as to whether or not they are employable, but there are good schools out there too!

 

My school was also one of the good ones that didn't give you the song and dance sunshine routine. They definitely didn't do that with me anyway, since the placement director is old friends with my dad! I already knew the truth about the industry before getting into it.

There are good schools out there, and unfortunately there are some bad eggs in the bunch too. Glad you had a good one!

 

My learning experience was cool!! They pointed to the truck, asked if I could run a twin stick and said there ya go!!

Some bad

 

But, But, But,.....I thought there is a driver shortage??????...........


I guess all the chickens are gonna come home to roost at the same time........
