The truth is, I am not whining. My mate & I were driving as a team for one of these big trucking companies when I got sick in a state far from our home. I had been in the hospital for about 2 days when the company we worked for medically terminated me and took my insurance away the very same day... I didn't even have a diagnosis!! So, no I'm not whining. Just telling it like it it.. It turns out that I had CANCER!!!!! Just got my last pet scan results yesterday and I am cancer free. Had to go through hell and the company could have cared less. Funny thing too, they sent me a card I received yesterday wanting me to come back!!!! I think not!!
I would rather drive for any company than TRANSAM trucking.. That is the company that did this to me.. After I went back home for those awful Chemo treatments, they cut down my mates miles to where he couldn't make any $$. So he quit and came back home and is driving locally. I will be entering back into trucking if I can find a company that will hire me.. But I'm sure my DAC is ruined thanks to Transam.. So I will probably have to find some other type of driving. Good luck in your trucking career. Because you are going to need it.. You just have to live it to see why people are unhappy with the trucking industry. You will see.

Dewfrogg, I wish you the best here. I hope that you will contact your state insurance commission, and an attorney. I do not believe terminating you like this is legal, and hope that you will pursue this.

    Good luck.

    Dewfrogg-
I wish you the best as well...

Perhaps I need to clarify terms for the benefit of this thread-

There are legitimate grievances out there. I would not be so stupid as to think otherwise. Companies can be unthinking, unfeeling faceless soulless monoliths with nothing driving them but a thirst for revenue, and without a single scruple to bar their way.

There are accounts of instances like the above, and then there is the chatter, the chaff... the petty whining and complaining from boys who never grew up and who wish their momma could be on the road to tuck them in at night.

I personally object the latter, but not the former. My whole issue is that the petty mindless complaints mask the real problems that newbies like me spend hours attempting to figure out, trying to find which companies might actually screw us so we can avoid them.

To all you with real problems, I feel for you, and if I see you out on the road in need, I am the kind of driver who definately will stop and lend a hand.

    Scrumdog Thanks this.

Back to the initial topic... :) If a trucker isn't complaining, then he isn't talking!

    Dewfrogg,
I also wish you well. As a current T/A driver, know where your coming from. I sometimes wonder if Johnny really knows what goes on in his company anymore or if he just relies on his bean counters and yes men to tell him the truth
