I can’t wait till everyone finds out that per the FMCSA requirements. All edits can be see by DOT.

As a former driver and small fleet owner, actually I still drive occasionally, now compliance consultant I can see both sides of the issue. Many drivers feel the need to conserve hours and constantly be turning their wheels, don't like the DOT meddling in their life and more. All that is great but it doesn't matter in today's world and if the driver is properly compensated and dispatched then they should have no need to cheat. @Tropsnart I'm sure your driver is well taken care of so I'm sure this isn't the case.
The big issue IS NOT the DOT catching you with a falsified log (oops don't want to offend the snowflake that got touchy over that word last week) so let's say an incorrect log. They will put you out of service for 10 hours and write a fine, it affects your CSA score but no big deal. @Ziggy319 is right, the ELD standards will show all edits so there is no sense in editing anymore unless you can support the edit as 110% legit.
The BIG issue with falsification of logs is when, not if but when a bad accident occurs. Even if the commercial driver did not contribute to the accident, say it was a drunk driver, they will still do jail time because they shouldn't have been where they were at the time. Also, from the owner's perspective they stand to lose everything in the resulting civil lawsuit. I just worked on the defense team for a tow truck driver that was sued by a drunk driver, and won, because the tower did not have the legal authority to close the lane he was working in. Never mind that towers do this every day and was on a police ordered tow (officer has already left the scene) or that the driver that hit him was drunk, the settlement cost the tower's insurance company several million dollars and the tow company owner paid over $250,000 out of his own pocket in expenses. Now imagine the results if the driver wasn't impaired. This is comparable to driving with a falsified log, you may not make the mistake but you will pay the price.REO6205 and rolls canardly Thank this. -
Hmmm, Ziggy, I can't speak to all units, but I can say without a doubt, that on the BigRoad unit, while in inspection mode, edits are not visible. That isn't a green light for me to edit, and I don't. I may add a notation or something, but I don't move hours. Regardless, if I punch the button for road side inspection last 7 + today, the will NOT see any edited log. It does however say "amended by ___ ___." But there's nothing wrong with adding omitted notations, etc.

Is your Big Road unit an ELD or still the AOBRD? If it is an ELD the only edits you can do are not drive time related and they are supposed to preserve the original record as well as show the edit version. If it is an AOBRD standard then the edits are not required to be displayed.

It's actually both, but I'm using as AOBRD because I got in under the 12-17 deadline. Yes I know one it's full ELD all of the editing, of any kind, is subjected to viewing.brian991219 Thanks this.

Gotcha. I think Ziggy was referring to the ELD standard, he never used AOBRDs in his operation went straight from paper to ELD.
