I think I've had enough time off. I got back home on December 23rd (my choice). Looks like I'm going back on the road January 2nd or maybe the 5th.

Anyone else itching to get back on the road?

I went and sat in my truck yesterday for a few minutes to get some paperwork and I really wanted to fire it up and go for a spin. aaahhh.

I took a "no thanks" pass on New Years for a holiday. Went home on 23rd (my choice also) and left out on 29th. Caught 2 pretty decent loads over the holiday.

Hubby was home the 25th and 26th, wont be back til who knows when......things are getting "ify" in his line of work so he has decided to stay out and skip next home time, too many rumors of going home and having to wait for another load......I am VERY ready for a better economic new year!

Been ready to go back to work, but fate is alive and well here!
Yesterday while twiddling my thumbs, I called the IRP section of our beloved state's motor vehicle division, just to check on my registration renewal. Because I returned my application the day after I received it, (11-04-08, I felt I should have had the renewal by now, (my third inquiry since mailing).
Surprise! your application has been set aside because we do not have the signed "actual miles" form in your packet. "We sent you a notice Dec. 23, so just sign the form, send it back, (have not received that notice yet!) and we will put your packet in with the hundreds of others who waited til the last minute. Oh, and by the way, the grace period that we normally give does not apply in your case, because this was your error, your tags expire 12-31-08.

Mentioning the fact that in Oct. '07, the title of my recently purchased truck wound up in the automotive dept. of motor vehicles, delaying the registration for four weeks, did not get me any sympathy.
I also mentioned that in April of '08, after purchasing my present truck, that they had MHC Kenworth of Fort Worth, TX, redo the title twice, only to find that someone in THEIR office transposed two numbers in the VIN, causing me three weeks of missed work, and three trips to their office, (230 miles round trip). I also did not keep track of the trips, and lost time spent in our local DMV office, only 17 miles away.

After that rant, the lady remembered me! Guess who wrongly entered the vin #s back then? ....yep!
So now, she graciously informs me that if I drive (another 230 mile trip) over to their office Monday morning, she will personally assist me with my long delayed renewal. Ohhhboy!
"While I'm waiting for Monday, is it OK to put my truck on the road?"
    "No sir, I'm sorry"
Hopefully the rest of the year can only get better!

Got home the 24th, back out the 29th. Got home yesterday afternoon for new years eve and headed back out this afternoon. The 5 days off was nice but I was ready to get back out.

I leave Saturday to head to Denver, then reload in Dallas and back to Canada. Should be a nice little run! Glad to get this holiday wrapped up and start making some money again!

I'm just itching for all this traffic to go home. I only took Christmas day and New Years day off, so I've been out there in it. Traffic today was pure murder.
