I don't know what the rules say, and I have never personally seen a scale so backed up that the slow lane was being used to line up trucks, but if I ever do I will keep rolling that sounds super dangerous. I would say that when that happens the scale operator should be fired. Super super counter productive to safety!

Apparently, Georgia has a full ramp bypass policy. When I was in truck driving school (2002), we went to the westbound I-20 scale west of Atlanta, for a tour. While we were in there, a Werner truck blew by the scale. The DOT cop said "Werner's awful brave today." Then after a few seconds "I guess we'll call it a full ramp." They didn't go after him.

The problem with Georgia scales is now they don’t have a closed sign. If your pulling oversized you have to pull in to see if they are open.

Governor Deal got worked up when US Express killed 6 or so on I 16 a few years back. Said he was going to double the force, and he did. You can't even get a green light Bob tail

That was the Total driver watching porn on his cell phone while driving. It was a car full of college girls in stopped traffic the driver did not notice. Only one survived. I live in GA and did not notice any difference in enforcement after that happened. GA scales have always offered fewer bypasses. My theory about more bypassing with the new system is they are still working the bugs out. Once they have a little more practice, they'll turn more traffic into the scales. To be fair, I've not been inspected any more here than anywhere else, despite fewer bypass opportunities.

The west bound Ohio scale on I-80 is doing than now also.

It seems to be causing confusion with the Truckers Path app. It'll be showing closed on the app, but the scale will be open when you get there, and vice versa.

That's part of the problem with any system requiring driver reports to work. LOTS of scales cycle between open and closed just to keep things manageable inside. So, a clueless driver goes by and it's closed, so that's how they flag it and it's just not true. Any such app is useless IMO and you're better off never relying on it.
