No more issues then any other engine from those years.
People have issues with the bull gear because they cheap out and don't replace it at Inframe time. If it's a Reman engine you shouldn't have to look at that till engine needs an inframe.Oxbow Thanks this. -
Ahh yes, I’ve heard of that! Is there a way to check if it’s been done?

I love my 6nz, it is a pleasure to drive. All my work is in hilly country pulling a stock crate and it thrives on it. Yes it is a bit thirsty but I'd rather it cost me a little more in return for having some action when I press the go pedal. I drove an L9000 truck and dog with a 12.7 and it was a bit of a hill detector. But if you're chasing fuel economy above all else then the Detroit is probably the go.

Well, it is and it isn’t. From my calculations, fuel is by far and away the big cost in owning a truck (in Australia diesel is about $1.40-1.70/L in the cities), so when you’re talking a minimum of 1mpg difference, that’s adds up to quite a saving by the end of the year. Of course, I’m not going to care if I’m giving a huge amount of performance up for .2mpg.
