Well I just got the ok from TMC. I hope they are the company they seem to
be. I know as well as anyone that freight is slow now and I think my expectations are realistic. I just want to go to work for a company again that I will be proud to work for and is proud to have me. I used to work for imo one of the most driver oriented LTL companies in the country. Then about 6 years ago they were bought out by a well known worldwide carrier. Since then things have declined rapidly and I haven't been happy working there for a long time. I think I'm heading for Columbia SC the 19th for orientation. So any insight would be appreciated. Also wonder if anyone else here is going to be headed to orientation the same week.

Just read everything in this section of the forum and you will be far ahead of anyone else that attends orientation. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

You can be proud to work at TMC. The company likes to see you take pride in your equipment, attitude, and quality of work.

I am hoping to get with TMC after I fulfill my obligation to team drive a year with my brother.

Rawlco I'm assuming you are currently working at TMC. Do you operate on a percentage or mileage? If you dont mind me asking what kind of money are you making right now weekly? I know things are slow everywhere just wondering how slow at TMC. I have seen some conflicting posts.

Rawlco is right, read this forum and you are better equipped when you get here. I was suprised that myself and Grumpy1 are the only ones that knew about this site. Lots of guys in my class asked me how I knew lots of stuff about what to expect, I told them about here. Lots of good info and very helpful people like Rawlco here.

I am currently on a dedicated account for TMC with a mileage based pay. I recommend percentage as the only fair method of payment for line haul/long haul.

Well I have made about $600 a week for these three day weeks with holidays and while in a loaner daycab that limits my options. My regular sleeper cab is at Peterbilt getting a tick tick tick noise fixed, parts should be in Monday for it.

Just read all the threads in this section of the forum and your questions will be answered.

Thx Rawlco. I guess I'm a little nervous about changing jobs in this economy. I can weather it as long as things are not too bad. After working for the same company for 9 years I'm looking forward to doing something new... Especially for a company that appreciates hard work.

Rawlco, I appreciate you taking the time to share the information you have on this forum. Your helpfulness to others and the honesty you provide has made me proud to have been pre-hired by TMC. I begin my CDL training this Wednesday, Jan. 7th, and I feel the information I have learned from yourself and others over the past several months has given me a leg-up on what to expect and what to work on as I begin preparing for what I hope will be a long career with TMC. The competitive side of me will push me to excel in CDL training and TMC's orientation. I plan to post more responses on the forum so that I will be able to PM you and other TMC drivers, as I have always felt that a person can learn from those who have the real-life experience that rookies don't. Again, thanks for all the assistance you've provided me and others.

    Rawlco Thanks this.

I have also been approved by TMC. The onlything I'm waiting for is for them to approve the spot where I'm gonna park the truck.

Looks like I'll be heading for Columbia SC and starting orientation on the 19th. I'm really looking forward to it. Have you heard anything about when you might start Ridethelightning? Also I want to thank Rawlco and everyone else for their help and input. I was going to TMC regardless but reading everything ya'll posted made me confident in my decision.
