Forced Learning is the best learning. You can read all you want but you must tread in mud in order to make cement...

If you have experience driving you can lease your truck on somewhere. The company that you lease with will take care of the business side of things you pretty much just need to work. It's a good way to ease into business because you'll make more money than you would as a company driver but you won't make as much probably as a true independent, although there are some guys have had their authority and did much better leasing on to other companies.

But the point is that it's an easier way to dip your toe in the water without diving in headfirst.

FMCSA outlines all the steps to getting your Authority if that's what you want. I think they even explain ifta.

You should be learning to do as many repairs as possible, and thinking about how and where you will repair the truck when you have it.

You can simplify your record-keeping with QuickBooks. Insurance coverage is primary liability like you have on any vehicle collision if you desire it and cargo insurance.

Yes you need a lawyer and an accountant that know Trucking.

    Keep researching. Good luck.
