Possibly, but it seems that most carriers I've been with frown on those requests, so I chose not to bother.....
Besides myself, many "old time" Crete drivers (which I am not) will tell you that the company (while still better than many) has gone "downhill" tremendously over the last few years. I know I saw one heluva difference during my medical time off which was only about 9 months. Perhaps it has something to do with the Florida accident, who knows?
I guess what I'm saying it that it MAY not ALL have been my FM's fault.

I'm a month & a half into my training with Crete. I could not ask for a better trainer. I could not ask for a better fleet manager. I feel for dispatchers trying to keep drivers happy with meager frieght. I could ask for better times. Yes there are some who could do their jobs (better). I'm trying to do that. Lets hang together during this time and pray for strength & the blessing of better times. Anything else only hurts us all and makes it worse. Tough times never last, but good people do.
ithinkican Thanks this. -
I'm thinking about getting into trucking. I have a few questions if someone would please answer for me. First is Do they hire out of louisiana, where do you keep trucks when your home, do all trucks have apu's?
-
yes i belive so
most dont have apu's but there working on it
keep you truck at home if they let ya, i have to park mine in deland fl and drive home from there...hope this help -
they do hire new hires but they have to be from a ptdi approved school to be considered for employment is what i have been told
-
Crete doesn't have any schools in Louisiana that are approved at this time. If you can get on with another carrier for 6-12 months, we could take a look at you then. 6 months exp would require some additional training. Or if you can get a year in, you could come over with no additional training.
Most drivers take their trucks home for hometime, unless they live too far from the freight. And we are working on the APU thing. Hope this helps =) -
noshortcuts,
does crete have approved schools in S. Georgia? -
Please do not take this the wrong way. It would be much easier to do a search on yahoo or google for ptdi schools in the state in which you would like to know about. The PTDI accredidation is Professional Truck Drivers Institute. Many schools have this as it is getting more and more common as a requirement for trucking companies today. Some schools you may want to check out ar C1, Roadmaster to name a few.
dawgfan Thanks this. -
Thanks for the response. I have already checked the PTDI website, and it doesn't show any certified schools in Georgia. Thought maybe the poster could help.
