I am wanting to take videos that are on my video camera and put them on my computer. I was messing around with Windows Movie Maker and it says that it is not set up to import videos from an analog source which is what my old school camera is.
Now I know that there are programs to take records and cassette tapes and make them digital files but is there one that does videos? How do I go about being able to use my old school camera? Plus I want to start video blogging and upload videos to youtube. Should I just say screw it and buy a new digital video camera? any help would be appreciated.

Buy a capture card. There are quite a few USB ones. They usually come with crappy software to get the job done.

If you want some good software, go with Ulead. ~$100 . . . very very good.

I did this 2 years ago with Ulead . . . and it was my first attempt ever at converting VHS to digital . . . then editing:
