We've had satellite for 10 years and I've got to tell you that the satellite of today is NOT the satellite of even 5 years ago. We get storm fade on rare occasion, if it's snow it's real easy to just wipe the dish off. Local programming is also not a problem anymore although I very well remember when it was. Another nice thing is the HD, we've got DirecTV and there are so many HD channels it's amazing. I love satellite and as a service it is light years ahead of cable.

The local stuff is still a problem in some areas. My grandparents switched satellite providers because of the promise of the local channels. Well it turns out they're only available in about 95% of the country, and despite the promise of theirs being available.... well, they aren't.
