Really up to you on the TV. Might as well though. If freight keeps tanking you might want it LOL ABout $50 -- Wal Mart

Go cheap at first, a Cobra 25 is a good low end radio. Depending on the company, they might supply a radio. About $70 -- any truck stop

Invertor -- 1500 watts if they allow it. If not, as big as they allow. If you don't intend to have a fridge on the truck or a microwave, don't bother. Unless you intend to get a Laptop, then a 400 watt will do.

1500 watt about $140 at many truck stops.

Antenna -- Most trucks come with a set. Poor quality, but they'll do til better times. $14 - $150 depending on what you buy.

XM - Due to packaging differances, even though they are the same company now. If you get it for music, just get an I-pod. That way you have no monthly fees. XM $50 at any truck stop. I-Pod about $100 at Wal MArt

GPS -- to start, a Garmin 200w will do good. For about $200 at Wal Mart. You can get the 3.5 screen version for $150

Laptop -- can be done at a later date if you want one, when you have the money. -- Check into the low ends avaliable at Wal Mart about $300-$400

FOOD -- As Healthy as you can keep safely. This goes back to the fridge and invertor arguement. Wal Mart.....price varies

ANYTHING ELSE --- Cell Phone, a must ! Even if it's a prepaid. $50 a month for me at AT&T

If you get out towards oregon that is the best place to buy everything as there is no sales tax out there. You can save a little bit of money that way.

Amazon....it's your friend and very cheap on a lot of items. Definitely get Satellite Radio. Changing channels constantly is no fun. I have XM, but it's really up to personal taste. GPS is good, but even the ones made "just for truckers" don't always give you the right routes. So don't follow it to the letter or you will find yourself down some neighborhood streets. Laptop is good to break up some monotony but not something that is crucial.

As for a TV, I use Slingbox...it hooks up to my TV at home and I can watch my LOCAL TV channels anywhere I am because of my laptop and a Verizon aircard. Slingmedia . com is their website. $60 for the aircard per month, $1000 for the laptop and $250-300 for the Slingbox. No monthly subscritption fee on the Slingbox either, you just pay for the hardware. You will need a High speed internet connection and a router at home along with a set top box for your cable or satellite TV.

Inverter...450 watt Cobra is a great one to get. I plug in my laptop and PSP into it and have no problems running both at the same time. Cobra's the best brand to use by far.

CB isn't necessary, but a lot of shippers and consignees utilize them and they're good for when traffic arises. I never use mine just to use it. Too much BS going on on them.

If you wanna save a few bucks and don't mind eating can food, I use a lunchbox stove and buy 1 quart loaf pans from Wal-Mart. $8 a day of can goods and $.30 for the loaf pan and I'm good. The lunchbox stove on Amazon will run you like $30-40.

One last thing I would get is a DC Fridge. You can find them at most truck stops. Usually run about $100-120. It plugs into a cigarette lighter and works good for the most part. That way instead of buying drinks at the truck stops, you can have them right there for you. Also you can keep lunch meat and condiments in there too so you're not just eating can goods all the time. Tuna fish is a good choice to bring with you. Buy it in the bags, not the cans. Less to throw away and they don't have to be drained as much. Get half loaves of bread because they will go stale after a week or so.

Hope this helps you some and Godspeed. The climate we're in right now isn't fun. Everyone's hurting for miles...so spend your money wisely and never buy anything you don't need at that moment.
