If you feel that uncomfortable about losing a mirror go in and buy one of those round bug eye mirrors and mount it where it points to the area you having trouble worrying about or just be extra careful, get in line going down the road and be extra aware until you get to the dealership giving yourself plenty of room on all turns you are worried about. Stuff happens and you need to learn to deal with it.
Am I being unreasonable?

Plus, it sounds like the company simply does not want to pay to have a mobile guy come out, have to order the mirror and you be down for a few days while it gets shipped. Then the expense of getting the mobile guy back out to actually put it on.
No, I'd go take it to the dealership myself for one main reason. Pay!
If loaded, the load will be relayed so no pay for several days until the part gets ordered and gets fixed.
OR you can perfectly legally drive to the dealership and hopefully have it replaced and be back on the road in a couple hours. -
Omg, there's a million trucks running up and down the hwy every day with no hood mirrors. There not mandatory and yes your being unreasonable.
starmac, Swine hauler, Tb0n3 and 14 others Thank this. -
they are not required, if only by your employer, not the DOT
you are just so use to having extra eyes.
run the truck.
i can understand your feelings, but just run the truck.....Wargames, TaterWagon#62, x1Heavy and 4 others Thank this. -
I'd drive it - last Freightliner I drove the hood mirrors had fallen off , no great loss to me.

Your being very unreasonable.
The company I drive for has them and I look through them! Never use them.
Hell, what would you do if you had to drive a cabover???starmac, x1Heavy, sevenmph and 1 other person Thank this. -
Been without them for the last year and haven't missed them a bit. You simply learn to rely on the door mirrors and they work just fine.
sevenmph Thanks this. -
Jeez,I drove my conventional 4300-9300 Internationals 42 years without any type of hood mirrors, was I missing something? Never managed to hit anything.
I guess times and truckers have changed. -
For me the only use I find of the hood mirrors is it helps when making a right. I can keep the tandems a few inches closer to the curb then when I drive a truck without one. Otherwise they just confirm when I am seeing int he door mirrors if my focus even uses them.
